Asset Owners Working Group

Asset owners across Asia are accelerating their net zero alignment work throughout Asia, recognising that they cannot divest from climate risk.

The Asset Owners Working Group will meet the growing interest in net zero alignment from Asian sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurers.

By extension, AIGCC also co-ordinates leading global net zero initiatives, including, for asset owners, the Paris Aligned Asset Owner (PAAO) Commitment, which allows global asset owners to demonstrate climate leadership, publicly set science-aligned interim targets and report on progress, while engaging in peer-to-peer learning.

Who can join?

The Asset Owners Working Group is open to all asset owners, including those who are at an earlier stage of their climate journey, as well as more advanced leading funds. Specific climate commitments, reporting, targets or demonstration of progress is not a prerequisite to join the working group.

Our activities

Through the working group asset owners will:

  • Learn from experts and best practice from regional and global peers in the many aspects of net zero investing,
  • Develop capacity to align investor portfolios with the goals of the Paris Agreement,
  • Build momentum for taking climate action to meet their fiduciary duties.

The working group will have an emphasis on peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing between both global and regional asset owners., as well as from international asset owners.
