Just Transition Working Group

The Just Transition Working Group was established to develop and support investors to promote climate transition investments that are socially inclusive, ensuring that the transition to a low-carbon economy is inclusive, fair, and leaves no community behind.

The Role of Investors in a Just Transition

Investors have a critical role in bringing about a just transition, particularly through engagement with companies and policymakers, and through the development of climate-related investment strategies that incorporate social considerations, such as employment, worker rights, labour conditions, marginalized groups, community resilience and gender.

Our Activities

We help build capacity amongst investors and provide them with tools and guidance to promote and support the integration of just transition principles into engagement and investment strategies across Asia.

The working group will focus on:

  1. Capacity building
  2. Engaging with current and emerging investor frameworks on just transition
  3. Understanding tools and approaches for engagement with corporates and policymakers on just transition

Decarbonising Asian economies and operationalising a just energy transition manifest differently across various economies and geographies in Asia. We recognise that there are different starting points for each market. Policy engagement will continue to be an important, complementary element to our ongoing engagements with energy companies, ensuring the right incentives exist in the overall economy. We encourage participation from AIGCC investor members who are keen to influence policy discussions on this topic.
