We will discuss transition pathways to net zero for the steel sector in Asia, and to strengthen the region’s capacity to advance sector decarbonization efforts through international collaboration and partnership.
Closed-door Roundtable on the Transformation of the Steel Sector in Asia (Chatham House)
Overview:
The steel industry is responsible for 7% – 9% of global greenhouse gas emissions and the decarbonisation of the sector is vital for meeting climate goals. Asia is both a major steel producing and consuming hub and will therefore have a crucial role.
Investors in Climate Action 100+ work with the companies to encourage them to work towards the global goal of delivering net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement to pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.
As part of these conversations, key stakeholders in the region have been invited to participate in the Roundtable, to discuss transition pathways to net zero for the steel sector in Asia, and to strengthen the region’s capacity to advance sector decarbonisation efforts through international collaboration and partnership.
RSVP: This is an invite-only roundtable, Chatham House rules.
