Nitish Ranjan
Industrial Decarbonisation Consultant for Steel Industry
Nitish Ranjan advises AIGCC’s work on steel decarbonization. He supports the development of strategies and action plans that bring together key stakeholders to align around net zero pathways for the region’s steel ecosystem.
With over 25 years of experience in the metals and minerals sector, Nitish brings deep, cross-cutting expertise across both ferrous and non-ferrous value chains. He began his career as a process engineer at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), India’s largest government-owned steel company, gaining hands-on knowledge of iron and steel manufacturing.
For over 15 years, Nitish has worked in consulting and advisory roles, delivering projects that drive operational efficiency and strategic transformation—including cost optimization, product development, energy efficiency, market growth, and sustainability. He has worked with global firms such as Siemens, Frost & Sullivan, and the International Manganese Institute (IMnI), and has led complex organizational change initiatives to ensure on-the-ground buy-in from plant personnel.
Prior to joining AIGCC, Nitish advised a private equity firm on the setup of a new green steel plant, and led the development of actionable decarbonization strategies for operating steel mills.
Nitish holds an MBA in Strategy from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Manila, Philippines, supported by a Japan-ADB scholarship. He also holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (with distinction) from Bhagalpur College of Engineering, India.
