Real Economy Impact from Investors in Southeast Asian Emerging Markets: connecting investor engagement in energy transition
An investor briefing on the critical topic of energy transition in Southeast Asia, with case studies on progress in across Asian EMDE, the challenges and the importance of market nuances to mobilise capital and transition finance, learnings from past corporate engagements and policy dialogues. This session aims to provide institutional investors with insights on decarbonisation and transition plans in ASEAN.
This will be a 60 minute in-person session on the sidelines of PRI in Person 2024.
Objective:
- Provide institutional investors with insights on developments and how to consider market nuances in emerging markets, with Southeast Asian as an example, tied to national level NDCs, energy development plans, and regulations
- Discuss on AIGCC’s investor-led Asian Utilities Engagement Program (AUEP) as a success story on corporate and policy engagements through a set of investor expectations
- Provide insights on how industry stakeholders are supporting SOEs in their decarbonisation strategy and energy transition plans
- Welcome peer-to-peer dialogue with institutional investors from Asia to share best practice on climate engagement with corporate and/or policymakers
