The Q4 2024 meeting of the working group will feature guest lectures on Korea’s Energy Mix.
According to Korea’s proposed 11th energy plan, which will be fixed until the end of this year, it is planning to meet the energy demands before building new nuclear power plants like below:
-
2031-32: LNG 2.5GW
-
2033-34: Undecided (LNG or Carbon Free Energy (‘CFE’)) 1.5GW
-
2035-36: SMR 0.7GW, CFE 1.5
-
2037-38: New nuclear power plants
We will invite two Korean experts, one supporting thermal power generation including LNG, the other supporting renewable energy generation. After listening to these guest lectures, we will have some discussions about Korea’s energy mix, which will be used when we draft the position paper in the future.
