Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC) and ClientEarth are organising a side event on 4 Oct 2023 during the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in Person conference in Tokyo, Japan. This side event will bring together a distinguished panel of legal experts, investors, and regulators to discuss the many shades of greenwashing, from brand greenwashing to the mislabelling of financial products and funds, and the consequences of such acts, including regulatory enforcement and private litigation. The panel will also discuss what actions financial actors can take to avoid greenwashing risks.
An updated English/Japanese version of “Greenwashing and how to avoid it: an introductory guide for Asia’s finance industry”, with analysis specific to Japan, will also be launched during the side event. Designed with asset managers, banks, and institutional investors in mind, the guide offers practical information to combat greenwashing:
- An overview of emerging forms of greenwashing and the different regulations, guidelines and legal action on greenwashing across Asia and elsewhere;
- Recommendations for financial institutions to guard against greenwashing risks.
Please note that photographs and videos will be taken at this event to be used by the organisers for publicity and archiving purposes. Please inform the event organisers should you wish not to be captured in photographs or video recordings.
